Information

Nick Wilkinson lives and works in Los Osos, California. His work, seemingly improvisational, is informed by a vast mental library of images and objects, catalogued over years of voracious collecting. His paintings and drawings exist in a world between investment-grade abstraction and dirty doodles on the back of a notebook. Mutated versions of his young sons’ drawings make regular appearances. He studied painting and printmaking at San Diego State University and has shown work throughout the United States and internationally.

In addition to his painting practice, Wilkinson is the founder and director of Left Field, a gallery that exhibits a wide range of contemporary art not otherwise seen on California’s Central Coast. He also owns a nursery in Cambria called Grow, and a drought-tolerant landscape design firm called Botanica Nova.
